What is AI Audit Trail?

An AI audit trail is a chronological, tamper-evident record of AI activity in an organization: who used which model, what was sent, what policies applied, what came back, and what it cost. It is the evidence layer that turns AI governance claims into something provable.

Traditional systems have logs; enterprise AI mostly does not. Prompts and responses flow to external providers and vanish, leaving nothing to reconstruct when legal, security, or a regulator asks what happened.
