What is AI Accountability?

AI accountability is the ability of an organization to answer for its AI usage: to show who used AI, for what, under which controls, and with what result — and to assign responsibility when something goes wrong. It is what governance produces when it works.

Accountability fails quietly: a decision influenced by an AI answer nobody retained, a cost nobody owns, an exposure nobody can time-bound.

It requires three layers: visibility (usage is seen), control (rules are enforced), and record (evidence exists). Remove any one and accountability collapses into assertion.

Tokto describes itself as AI accountability infrastructure because it operationalizes all three at the point of use.
